II. Top Five Careers
- Conduct an Internet search to determine the Top Careers - possible sites to include: Business Week, Forbes, CNN, U.S. News & World Report, IdahoCIS, etc.
- Compare your lists from three different sites to determine the top 5
- Find average salaries for the top 5 careers
- Record the Top 5 Careers in your Career Journal, along with the salaries
- Using www.idahocis.org, research 3 possible career choices that fit your preferences. One career can be the one from your reality check.
- Make a list for each career:
- 3 positive aspects - that you like about the career
- 3 negative aspects - that you are not too excited about that career
- Now, using what you learned in the through your research about the aspects of a career that are most important to you (salary, daily satisfaction, daily schedule, education requirements, etc) rank the three careers by choice, 1st, 2nd, 3rd.
- Record your comparisons in your Career Journal
- Name your file Career Journal and save it in your career folder
