Today we will create a database named class and enter the field names in design view. To create a database open Access and above the create button (bottom right of screen) on the opening screen name the database class. When you get to the main screen change your view by clicking on the view and selecting design view. Access will ask you to name the file, name it class. Then in design view begin typing in the field names (these should be in order, use the list that you created). Leave the first field as auto number and start the second field with First Name, using text as the data type. Remember to save often, CTRL & S keys will save. When you have finished switch back to datasheet view and begin entering your data. Once you have enter the data from your list you may save your database and close it. If you have not finished the Access Screen Layout assignment work on that. If you are finished you may go to coolmath.com, read or work on something else.

Today we will begin our first database. We will develop a database from the interests of the class using your favorite things. Each of you will then type out a list of your favorite things using Word and print them to use for creating a database. Use a web based program to review and memorize the vocabulary for Access. Language Obj: SWBAT Use content vocabulary correctly When you finish your Access screen layout assignment I want you to study the vocabulary words. If you have a Quizlet account login work with the Access words. If you do not have an account you need to go the library and get one set up. There will be a quiz over these words on Tuesday. If you can pass the test on Quizlet with 80 percent I would like you to create a login for Typingweb.com and practice your typing. Access Vocabulary 1. Language Obj: SWBAT Use content vocabulary correctly Today we will review the procedures and then take the quiz on edmodo. Today's assignment is the Access screen capture. You are to label the important parts of the home and create screens. On the home screen label the Home tab, Title bar, the View bar, the sort & filter bar and the All Access Objects bar. On the create screen label the Create tab, Query wizard, the Form wizard and the Report wizard. Open a word document and do a save as and save to a new folder named Computer Applications. Then Open Access and select Create on the right side of the screen. Do a CTRL Print screen, hold down both keys and copy the Home tab view and the Create tab view. Paste them both on the Word Document. Then label the screens using a text box and an arrow. These are found on the Insert tab in Word. When finished save and close your document to the computer applications folder and then attach the assignment to the Access Screen layout assignment on edmodo. Today we will discuss the class procedures, take a formative assessment designed from the material for this class. You will also sign a code of conduct and sign up for the school social networking site edmodo (code is xtubxb). We will use this site to communicate and turn in assignments and quizzes. Most of your work will turned in electronically. It is also necessary that you have a school gmail account. IF you do not, you need to have Mrs Wilkerson assist you with this account. I use Quizlet as a way for you to study/review vocabulary and this tool is essential for you being successful in this class. If you can use your gmail send me an email to [email protected] and I will sent you the link to join quizlet. If we have time you all will create a folder on your drive called computer applications. Today you will complete a final formative assessment. This is for my records and to show your progress.
If you were gone on Thursday you need to take the final on edmodo. There are a few of you that can make a difference in your grade by completing some work. After the assessment I will speak with you individually. It has been a pleasure being your teacher this trimester. I hope you have a great rest of the school year. You may work on any missing work and I have decided that you will have until Friday to complete any missing work. If you are finished with all assignments your time is your own, use it wisely.
