Base two worksheet- Today you will be doing a worksheet. This assignment has two parts: one is answering the questions about computer hardware and software. You must read the material and find the answers, do not make up your own answers, they will be wrong. The second part of this is about base two math (binary code), the language of computers. I will show you how to convert base 2 to base 10 and base 10 to base 2. This is all based on place value. Base 10 place value is based on multiples of 10, or 1 10 100 1000 10000 and so on. Base 2 is based on multiples of 2 or 1 2 4 8 16 and so on. When you change base two to base ten you must add using place value so 11 in base two equals 3 in base 10. 111 in base 2 equals 7 in base ten or 1+2+4=7. To change base ten to base 2 you must divide using place value. So 25 equals 1101 in base two. Divide by 16, then 8 gives the 11. Then 4 and 2 will not go on to 1 so you must use two 0's for a place holder. Finally 1 goes into one giving you 11001. In base two numbers you will only have zero and 1. If the first number of a base two number is one it will be an odd number, if it is a zero it is an even number. 11=3 10=2
